Pax ("we", "us", "our") operates the Pax platform. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. Your password is securely hashed and never stored in plain text.
Content and interactions
Content you post (pieces, takes, replies), reactions, conversations, connections, follows, and shares are stored to provide the service. Media uploads are stored on secure cloud infrastructure.
Push notifications
If you opt in to push notifications, we store your browser's push subscription data to deliver notifications.
Usage data
We collect basic usage data such as features used and participation streaks to operate the platform. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
Payment information
If you purchase sparks or subscriptions, payment processing is handled entirely by Mollie. We never receive or store your card details.

- To send transactional emails (notifications, digests, reminders)
- To moderate content using automated tools, including automated analysis of text, images, and videos
- To generate discussion summaries and topic tags using automated tools

3. Third-Party Services
We use the following categories of third-party service providers to operate the platform:
- Authentication provider — manages your login sessions and credentials securely
- Payment processor (Mollie) — handles all payment transactions
- Cloud infrastructure — hosting, email delivery, media storage, and image/video moderation
- Automated processing providers — content moderation, discussion summaries, and topic tagging
- Content delivery services — font loading, embedded media playback, and avatar generation
These providers only receive data necessary to perform their function. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.
4. Automated Processing
Pax uses automated tools to moderate content, generate discussion summaries, and extract topic tags. Your content may be processed by third-party services for these purposes. No automated decisions are made that have legal or similarly significant effects on you without human review.
5. Cookies
Pax uses only essential cookies required for the service to function:
- Session cookie — authenticates your login session
- Preference cookie — remembers your language preference
We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. We do not sell personal data.

Pax is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will delete that account and its data.
